Hot water. Clean sheets. Stiff drinks. Wild Things.
In the Texas Hill Country, it’s a well known fact that deer hunters will do anything for a buck.
I’ll be the first to say that I didn’t make up the snappy little title to this blog, some really cool hoteliers in Florida coined it first, but it fits for our seasonal hunting tourists. Paints a picture, no?
I wouldn’t say that all hunters are into glamping, but if you are, we have an offer, starting with our address: Bucks Run Road. No, right now, although we have exceptional deer (I counted 28 in our yard coming home from a Gary P. Nunn concert the other evening at around midnight………..seriously) and we have some extremely respectable bucks that are moving through our area for water and feed (Yes, we are spreading the corn around and from feeders, too) you may find that your ‘deer season’ hunting weapon is a camera. If that is the case, we have a place for you to do your ‘shooting.’
If, by chance, you are interested in taking a real shot with a rifle and a scope, area outfitters are standing by to help OR if you already have a lease and love the campfire, the hunt fellowship and the frivolity, but also love hot water and clean sheets, not to mention your own stiff drink, and a bubbling fresh hot tub and vanishing edge pool when the day is finally done, well, we are standing by for that as well.
And we do a ‘knocked-out’ dinner that is served near a 6′ wide fireplace in our stone lobby. If it’s truly as cold as we are hoping it will get this season, we think that it could be the perfect ending to a frosty evening hunt, don’t you?
